PRESERVATION
Guaranteeing the long shelf life of your products is of utmost importance. We learn the needs of your final users as well as the product itself adhering to the required attributes needed for certain foods and products.
PRESENTATION

These are important channels to consider. Better presented packages imply higher quality products. Presentation can help your customers make informed decisions chasing you over your competitor.
Sustainability at DBC Packaging
At DBC, we believe that responsible packaging goes beyond protecting products – it also means protecting the planet. We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint and driving continuous improvements in how we use energy, water, and materials across our operations.
Our on-site solar power system supplies a significant portion of our electricity needs. Since its instalment in 2022, it has generated over 1.22 GWh of clean energy, avoiding the release of approximately 478.8 tonnes of CO₂ into the atmosphere- the equivalent of planting 14 291 trees. Alongside this, we continue to introduce energy-efficient practices such as LED lighting and optimised machinery, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and strengthening our carbon reduction efforts.
We also place a strong emphasis on water stewardship. Our manufacturing processes operate on a closed water loop, allowing us to recycle and reuse water internally while minimising withdrawals and preventing unnecessary wastage. In addition, our rainwater harvesting system collects and stores water on-site, which is used to irrigate gardens and lawns and to wash vehicles and equipment. These measures ease the demand on municipal water supplies and ensure water is used responsibly and sparingly.
Waste Management
Waste management is another key part of our sustainability journey. We actively recycle and repurpose production offcuts and materials, and our partnerships with local recyclers ensure packaging scrap is recovered responsibly. By aligning with South Africa’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations, we contribute to building a circular economy where materials are reused, recycled, and given new life.
In addition to managing resources efficiently, we continuously explore ways to improve the sustainability of our packaging. We are committed to sourcing responsibly wherever possible, using recyclable and lighter-weight materials, and designing packaging solutions that support ease of recycling for end-users. Through innovation and collaboration, we help our clients meet their own sustainability commitments while reducing overall environmental impact.
Our Responsibility
Our responsibility extends beyond operations to the communities around us. We are proud to provide local employment opportunities, support skills development, and ensure safe and fair working conditions. By integrating sustainable practices into every part of our business, we aim to create a positive impact not only within our organisation but also in the wider community.
Sustainability is a journey, not a destination. At DBC, we are committed to expanding our renewable energy capacity, setting measurable targets for reducing waste and carbon emissions, and continuing to invest in packaging innovations that support a circular economy. These commitments guide our actions today and shape how we plan for a more responsible future.
