BOPP laminated woven polypropylene bags

BOPP is the acronym for biaxially oriented polypropylene. BOPP laminated refers to the combination of laminating BOPP film to the woven polypropylene cloth for the main purpose of being able to have high end graphic images on a WPP bag.

Benefits:

  • Outstanding print image quality
  • Enhanced marketability of the product which is especially important when competing for shelf space.
  • High tensile strength of the WPP bag

The process:

All bags are manufactured from scratch using virgin polypropylene pellets.

Extrusion: This is the first stage in the manufacturing process where the tape is manufactured. Depending on what finished product is required, a combination of virgin polypropylene granules, calcium carbonate, ultra violet stabilizer and colour pigment are combined through heat and extrusion.

Weaving: Here the tape is woven into fabric of a required GSM and size, and will be wound in roll form.

Converting: There are multiple processes that the woven cloth goes through to get to the ultimate finished product. The sequence of these is determined by the style and type of bag required. These may consist of printing directly onto the cloth; or the coating of the cloth prior to printing; or the laminating of printed BOPP film onto the cloth. The cutting of the cloth into individual tubes, the sewing operation, which converts the individual tubes into individual bags; and the inclusion of handles if so required
